I looked at those frames and tried to figure out which old independent film they had come from. They were photos from the waterproof analog camera, with black and white film, taken over the past year on trips, hangouts with friends, and even at home—a documentation attempt that ended up fictionalizing itself into a summer movie dream.
I think about the irony of saying that my most transformative recent acquisition was a printer, but I also can’t help but mention its ability to materialize the dream that is not really a dream, but a moment.
More than that, I realize that what is actually being revealed are two things: the photo and who I was at the moment it was taken.
And so I continue romanticizing life itself because I love a well-constructed narrative.
Don’t be afraid to retell your own story in your own voice.

In other news:
I’m not sure if you remember that time when I used to do Lana Del Rey covers on YouTube, and then I kind of stopped because I wanted to focus more on my original music project. But if you’re one of those people who miss those times that won’t come back, I have some news for you!
My friend Reghert, who is a producer and DJ now living in Montreal, saw this video here, took my voice, made a remix with electronic sounds, and sent it to me:
I listened to it, loved it, and then we agreed to collaborate on this reinterpretation of Lana Del Rey’s “Cinnamon Girl” with a dancey, electronic, house vibe. We kept in touch, worked remotely, and finally, we made the song, and it’s almost ready to be released!
It drops on Friday, August 16th.
Watch this reel to get a sneak peek of how it sounds!
Pistachios for you,
