An ode to search engines + launching Night Routine
I'd like to start by praising whoever came up with the idea of adding a search system to this site and wondering when they'll invent something similar to find things inside our own heads. On second thought, maybe it's better if they don't. I was sure I had already talked here about something called “Homework for Life” in a post, but the search results confirm that I haven’t.
I'll summarize: you take 5 minutes out of your day before going to sleep to identify the most "story-worthy" thing of the day, something different, unusual, unique, and write it down. It's not about describing the whole story, you just need to jot down the main points that will help you remember what happened. The idea is to capture the simple moments of life and not let them go unnoticed, allowing you to remember them later without having to read through pages and pages. I started this in November of last year and for my terrible memory, it was great. My memory is still terrible, but at least the record remains.
I'll leave the video that made me start doing this, from the person who invented this exercise.
And once again, the search system is saving my life because I searched for “routine” and there they were, previously forgotten, several entries from the various days I developed the song. If I had started this a long time ago, I might have known the exact day almost two years ago when the seed of the song began. Here’s the entries (in Portuguese, because I’m brazilian and I talk to myself in Portuguese).
The irony is that the song is there, highlighted on various days, but the things it talks about, the real routine, almost never make it in. Almost never are the repeated daily things considered special or notable. And it seems like every day there are more things to do every day. I imagine the irony of someone trying to follow all the advice to the letter: “8 hours of sleep minimum are essential for the body's functioning!”, “45 minutes of running a day!”, “15 minutes of stretching to loosen up”, and a day would need to have 72 hours to actually manage to do everything.
This was supposed to be a quick post announcing the arrival of the new song and inviting you to listen, so here it is:
If you want to follow along with the lyrics, they are available on Genius.
Pistachios for you,
